Audemars Piguet Partners with World-Famous Rally
By WatchPro | September 6, 2007
The Audemars Piguet Company has long maintained well-established links to the world of motor sports. The brand has recently built the partnership with a world-famous rally, the RAID Suisse-Paris. Having Rubens Barrichello on the list of the brand’s ambassadors, Audemars Piguet has acted as the official partner of Maserati, Montreux Grand Prix sponsor in 2006, as well as the Tour Auto Lissac official timekeeper during the last two events. Having started the new prestigious partnership, the company has once celebrated its passion for fine engineering.
On 23 August, the participants in the RAID Suisse-Paris started the rally in Basel with a set goal to reach Paris in three stages. Traveling through beautiful landscapes, the rally competitors passed through Dijon and Orleans and crossed the finish line at the Chateau de Rambouillet. Fans of motorcars got a unique chance to witness with their own eyes the exceptional vehicles of different categories and engine sizes which were produced up to 1975, including the Veterans category, that comprised cars launched until 1939.
The 2007 RAID Suisse-Paris was marked by a grand opening held in Basel on 22 August. The event took place in one of the Messe Schweiz Basel halls - the Premium Car and Luxury Show. The guests invited to the opening received a rare opportunity to have a preview of the most recent innovations of the leading luxury car brands. They also once again felt the excitement of the recent Alinghi’s victory in the America’s Cup, having walked through the space reserved for Audemars Piguet, deeply devoted to the Swiss Defender. The brand displayed all the watch models recently created, having greatly pleased fans of watchmaking and sailing.
On 23 August, the watchmaking company invited a few of its clients and partners to a VIP stand to witness the departure of the 2007 RAID. The invitees applauded to each competitor and watched the collector’s cars moving past in a really impressive procession.
