By WatchPro | December 7, 2007
Longines is proud to maintain its role as the CSIO Barcelona’s official partner and timekeeper. The final round of the Swiss brand’s Press Award for Elegance took part on 14th September 2007 during the Gran Premio Longines. The prestigious jury was invited to the event, including members of the sports and equestrian journalists.
The jury selected Christina Liebherr of Switzerland to be named the winner as the most elegant rider, not just in Barcelona but for the whole 2007 season. Throughout the season Christina demonstrated remarkable elegance, charisma and performance. Sergio Alvarez Moya of Spain was named the most elegant horseman of the 2007 season.
Christina Liebherr, on L. B. Robin Hood, became the most elegant female rider for the second year in a row!
As for the male rider, votes of the jury were more divided with many riders elected over the seven events but finally, it was Sergio Alvarez Moya, on Wisconsin, who became the winner. The elegant look of the rider and the harmony created with his horse won the hearts of the jury members and made them elect Sergio as the most elegant rider.
Ingeborga Dapkunaite, Lithuanian-born Russian actress, and Oleg Menshikov, one of the most famous Russian actors, are Longines Ambassadors of Elegance. The Ambassadors were glad to join the event. They were honored to present the trophy to the winning riders of Longines. The bronze trophy of a jumping horse has been designed specially on the occasion and then cast by a skillful Swiss sculptor of the Jura region, where Longines is located.
During its Press Award for Elegance, Longines introduced its new timepiece created specifically for those who adore horse riding. The ‘Instrument pour Cavalier’ watch sports a tachymeter that gives its owner a possibility to calculate a horse’s speed. The timepiece has become a fine addition to the Longines Sport Collection. The two most elegant riders were awarded with the Instrument pour Cavalier watches.
