Vacheron Constantin: The Malte Moon Phase and Power-Reserve Watch

By WatchPro | August 6, 2009

vacheron-constantinVacheron Constantin has introduced a new member of the Malte line - the barrel-shaped Malte Moon Phase and Power-Reserve watch. The barrel or tonneau shape is closely related with the history of the two-and-a-half centuries old watchmaking house. In 1912, Vacheron Constantin was one of the first companies to depart from round designs of watch cases.

The barrel shape of the case is not the only thing that distinguishes the Moon Phase and Power-Reserve watch. The dial of the timepiece demonstrates craftsmanship and technical skill – it boasts five different finishes. The central part of the dial is embellished with a light reflection absorbing “hobnail” pattern, called “Clous de Paris”. The outer part of the dial is satin-brushed and silvered. The inscriptions Swiss Made and Vacheron Constantin Genève, as well as the power-reserve display and the minute circle are applied by transfer printing. The seconds sub-dial at the lower part of the Malte Moon Phase and Power-Reserve watch dial features circular satin-brushed finish, and minute-circle and power-reserve parts are printed in opaque white screen-printing. The construction of the moon-phase display is also very sophisticated – it is composed of a galvanised disc with a moon face made from either white or pink gold.

vacheron-constantin1The Malte Moon Phase and Power-Reserve watch is powered by a manual-winding 1410 manufacture caliber, having a 40 hour power reserve. The jewel-adorned movement beats 28,800 times per hour. The timepiece is water resistant to 30 meters.

If you want a Vacheron Constantin watch from the Malte line, but don’t think that a watch is worth more than a hundred thousand dollars, you have another option – purchasing a Vacheron Constantin replica watch. Our replica watches are extremely reliable and cost a lot less than the real timepieces, while resembling them to such an extent that only a specialist can perceive the difference.
